Have your puppy's ears fallen forward after you brought them home? Below are a few options on keeping those tiny ears upright. 

All CTxBT puppies' ears are taped from 3 - 4wks of age. However, some little ears are more stubborn than others and require support for additional weeks.  Find what works best for you, but here are a few youtube videos I've found to be helpful.

I’ve had the opportunity to use several different products over the years breeding Biewers. While these products are by no means the best or only options, they are ones I personally use.  Hopefully, these recommendations will help shorten the time it takes for you to discover what works best for you.

I'd like to recommend Plaque Off dental powder. Amazon carry's this for around $100.00 for the 420g tub. This stuff is expensvie, so buying in volumne helps. However, I also have 5 Biewers and mix kibble well in advance.  There are many smaller containers that may align better for 1 or 2 Biewers.  

I'm still reasearching this, but Biewers have really bad teeth and this may help to avoid placing them under anesthesia for teeth cleanings. 

Quick note on growth charts. I use a combination of them to get an estimate. This one lists Biewers specifically but there is a lot of variation in end results. Growth charts are not a perfect science especailly since Biewers are such a new breed. Most charts don't include them.

 The variety within the Biewer Terrier breed is amazing. This range comes from the foundation dogs that were brought together to create the Biewer. DNA testing shows that the Biewer Terrier carries a blend of Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese, and Havanese.

On the far right is Murphy, my daughter’s Biewer. We were told he would stay around five pounds, but he now ranges between ten and twelve. The other Biewers in the basket range from 3-5lbs. 4-8 is standard.  

 New breeds can be unpredictable, and this is one of the reasons I became involved in breeding. I want to help support the consistency of the breed. Dogs that lean more toward the Havanese influence often have a heavier coat and are larger.

I wanted to try something different for a recent get-together, and it ended up being such a fun and memorable afternoon.

I'll be the first to admit that I do a fair amount of "Home Grooming". With 4-6 dogs and then puppies at any given time, groomers can get pricy. 

Oksana here had gotten matted and required a shave. Oh my did she look silly. However, she shows a good example of the hair on her ears growing out.

When visiting your groomer, let them know to trim the top 1/3 of the ear. This helps with reducing the weight of the hair helping the ears to stand up, but it also shows the long hair with just the tip (the top 1/3) peeking out over their hair. 

In this particular shot, I've trimmed the hair on her ears a little too much. It does grow back, albeit slowly. 

Never be afraid to play with trimming. It's good for them to have ongoing grooming at home so they are less nervous when visiting a professional.
